Newborn Lifestyle Session | Bath, NC | February 4, 2024

Lifestyle

I am thrilled to share some of precious Porter’s newborn photos! This at home lifestyle session was extra special for me, because I also did photos for Porter’s big brother, Layton, as a newborn. Their beautiful home is on the water just outside of Washington, NC and full of gorgeous natural light. Natural light is my best friend for in-home sessions, because it’s the most flattering and helps with my editing process. Thankfully this home had plenty of sunshine flowing in!

It was so much fun seeing Layton in his big brother role to baby Porter! He really is already the best at taking care of that sweet baby. He couldn’t stop “showing love” to his newborn brother, and wanted to snuggle him, feed him, and give him toys. Is there anything cuter than a big helper 2 year old giving his baby brother a bottle?! He even came back to the nursery after a quick popsicle break, ready to share his popsicle with both his mama and baby Porter. Made my heart melt! Not to mention, Layton was also not afraid of the camera, and happy to say “Cheese!” whenever prompted. Thanks for making my job extra easy, sweet Layton!

Porter’s mama Regan has an amazing sense of style, with both her home decorating, as well as coordinating everyone’s outfits flawlessly. You can see her talent from how gorgeous baby Porter’s nursery is! The room is thoughtfully curated with a mix of tans, gold, navy, muted blues, and off-white. From the 2 person nursery rocker (everyone needs one of these!), to the beautiful, blue-navy extra long blackout curtains with just a hint of sparkle, the room is the epitome of both style and function. It’s got a calm and cozy vibe, while still incorporating lots of “little boy” details. The dreamiest!

The cheerful room was also full of nautical details – the framed art over the navy crib, a wicker whale basket, stuffed sea creature baby toys, and so much more! And of course the sea-themed nursery wouldn’t be complete without a gorgeous little boat. Peep all of the precious big and little brother moments we were able to capture in the tiny vessel. I can only imagine the fun memories these two boys will create growing up on the water together!

Baby Porter was so calm throughout his entire lifestyle newborn session. I typically suggest mamas do their best to get their little one’s in a “milk coma” just before I arrive, so the baby will be nice and sleepy throughout the session. Otherwise, the baby might not be in the best mood while I snap all of their precious detail photos. However, that was not what happened at this newborn session, and it turned out to be perfectly fine! Baby Porter was in the best mood ever, wide awake, and I’m still not convinced that baby boy ever cries. He was in awe of the window light as he laid in the little boat, and let me capture his tiny hands, little toes, and ears. He even didn’t mind his big brother Porter climbing in the boat with him, cuddling him, and giving him tickles. Clearly he was taking notes from his big brother Layton with his sweet, happy demeanor!

Obviously, I had the sweetest morning capturing this family of 4! It was truly a pleasure to get to take photos at this lifestyle newborn session and capture all of Porter’s tiny details. I loved documenting this family during this huge, beautiful transition, and am so excited for them! Congratulations again to this beautiful family on sweet baby Porter’s arrival!

If you are searching for the perfect photographer to capture your newborn’s photos, I’d love to chat with you mama! Babies don’t keep, but these newborn photos will forever be a reminder of your little one in these early days, and all of their teeny, tiny features. I have three little ones myself, and documenting these precious days for families is one of my greatest privileges. Head on over to my website and submit an inquiry, and let’s talk about getting you and your sweet little baby on my calendar!

XO,

Alice
